Jennifer McAtamney - Breckenridge Town Council Memeber

Jennifer McAtamney

Jennifer was born and raised in Robbinsdale, Minnesota, a small suburb NW of Minneapolis. She grew up on Midwest politics which is a curious mixture of traditional family values and social liberalism. She began her career as an activist at age three when she went to her first political rally. With parents who always think globally and act locally they were involved in all levels of her community from the local Park and Rec. Board to the Senate. She spent her thirteenth birthday dropping literature on the last day for campaigning before a critical Senate race and at 15 was awarded the Optimist Clubs: Outstanding Youth Award for her community involvement. This type of activism followed her to college at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Since moving to Breckenridge in 1999 she has been blessed with two beautiful girls. Her and her husband Shawn moved from the wilds of Manhattan to the civilized slopes of Breckenridge in January of 1999. Their decision to move to Breckenridge was driven by the fact that it was a real town.

Jennifer is currently a Stay Home Mom and Volunteer. Previously she worked in the technology industry. As a graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison she moved to New York City in search of adventure and a little seasoning. Three weeks after arriving at Penn Station she was hired by a small software company in lower Manhattan. She started like most young people as an administrative assistant, eventually becoming the Director of Marketing and finally seeking a new challenge in 1996 when she moved to sales and became an Account Manager and Technology Evangelist for the company. She thought she had found her calling until she moved here and had her first child Mairi (Mar-ree). Mairi was followed 25 month later by her sister Emilie.

In the past 3 years Jennifer has served on the Summit County Arts Council, the boards of two homeowners associations and is the President of the Board of Directors at Little Red School House.
