Karen Strakbein - Summit School District Assistant Superintendent

Ms. Karen Strakbein, Assistant Superintendent of Schools joined Summit School District in March 2007 with more than 10 years of financial leadership in Eagle County Schools where she successfully managed an operating budget of over $50 million. Her responsibilities have included oversight of all business operations including accounting, budgeting, accounts payable, payroll, investments, grants, cash flow and financial reporting. Prior to Eagle County, Strakbein was the Supervisor of Finance for Littleton Public Schools. She received her accounting degree from Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado and was licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in 1985. Strakbein has bond and mill levy election experience and understands the importance of partnering with a small mountain community to maximize funding resources.
