Scott Vargo - Assistant County Manager
Scott Vargo is an Assistant County Manager for Summit County, Colorado. Despite no previous background whatsoever in broadcasting Mr. Vargo has written, directed and hosted the groundbreaking and Emmy award nominated* O'Vargo Factor on SCTV10 since 2004. In addition, he serves as moderator for the County Connections show which features policy discussions with Summit County Commissioners and is currently the top-rated** local government program nationally.
Vargo has 15 plus years experience in the human resources field working in health care, manufacturing and currently the public sector. Prior to his TV debut he provided workshops and developed presentations in professional development, supervisory skills, benefits and human resources related legal issues. Along with his television and human resources responsibilities Vargo oversees county facility development and planning, information technology and the 911 dispatch center. Vargo has been the project manager on several developments; including the hospital and medical office building campus, the materials recovery facility (MRF) and the new Summit Stage/Fleet maintenance facility.
Vargo spent his formative years in Minnesota where he graduated with a B.A in Psychology from the University of Minnesota. Eager to escape the cold Minnesota winters and the state bird (the mosquito) he relocated to Colorado and ultimately the sub-alpine environment of Summit County. According to Vargo "sure it's cold and snowy but it's a dry cold, the ski runs are a lot longer, and it's much sunnier than the Twin Cities". While waiting for his big break in television or the movies Vargo continues to do his best to keep the Summit County community informed on county issues while managing his other varied responsibilities.
